Skin 2 Skin Aging Intervention Cream ($69.00) is a day and night moisturizer for the face and neck, which boasts an ability to protect the skin from visible signs of UV and Infrared aging, revers fine lines and wrinkles, restore radiance and prevent swelling (inflamed skin). I must admit that these touted effects were to thoroughly verify in 4 weeks, but such changes were subtle and progressive. With that said, testing this product has nevertheless made me a converted customer to Skin 2 Skin Care brand, and, at 30-some years old. I have found the Aging Intervention Cream to be a well-worth addition to my daily regimen!
First the mechanics: The cream comes in a generous 1.8 fluid ounce bottle. With a lotion-like consistency, it dispenses easily from the airless pump. For all of you out there frustrated with malfunctioning airless pumps note that Skin 2 Skin crows about its airless pump as being “able to get 99 percent of product out” and the pump worked flawlessly during my month of use. It should also be noted that a little goes a long way – about a pump and a half was enough to cover both my face and neck.
The cream has a light, generally pleasant fragrance, but the smell does linger for a short time: those with a sensitivity to fragrance (a 100% natural oil extract of White Tea, Neroli, Jasmine, Orange, Spearmint, Lemon and Borgamot) may be sensitive. It terms of feel, the cream refreshes the skin as soon as it is applied and and because of this, it feels especially wonderful applied after a shower (after cleansing the face day & night). It leaves the skin moisturized for hours with no tacky or only residue. It is truly a treat to use.
Now, what about those ingredients? I am more a purist than not, so the fact that Skin 2 Skin Care does not use parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, paraffin, phthalates, sulfates, PABA, synthetic color (no dies are used in any product) or synthetic fragrance was welcomed news. No phenoxyethanol or sodium benzoate in the Aging Intervention Cream either. In fact, the company makes a point of advertising a list of 24 ingredients that it has labelled as “forbidden” and that do not figure in any of its products.
Instead, this Aging Intervention anti-aging skin care cream features some true anti-aging superstars. The formula contains ChroNOline, a peptide that studies have shown can increase the skins volume by 34 percent, as well as laminin (proteins) production by 26 percent and laminin 5 by 49 percent. In layman’s terms, this means a decrease in the depth of wrinkles. Also present is wild Australian Kakadu Plum Extract, which is said to be one of the world’s richest source of Vitamin C, more than a single orange. Vitamin C is one of my favorite skin care ingredients and at 4% in Skin 2 Skin Care’s products, targets hyperpigmentation and helps rebuild the skins volume (collagen). Alpha Lipoic Acid, an antioxidant, also figures prominently in the Aging Intervention Cream formulation, which is a wise choice for a day cream given its ability to reduce free radical damage and swelling (inflamed skin). Added bonus: it helps recycle other antioxidants, like vitamin C, back into there active forms.
Another standout is Lanablue, an extract derived from blue-green algae and described as an effective alternative to Retinol without the side effects like redness, irritation, dry skin, skin burns and sun sensitivity. Given that this is a day cream, getting the upside of retinol without its sun-sensitizing downside is a grate move. Various websites that supply the ingredient reference clinical data showing that Lanablue helped reduce wrinkle after only 21 days.
With this unique cocktail of ingredients that target various aspects of skin aging, I am hard pressed to think of what else I could possibly want in a day / night cream. I highly recommend this cream. Not only do I consider Aging Intervention Cream a great addition to one’s prophylactic skin care routine, but Skin 2 Skin Care’s focus on natural, plant-powered care will certainly make me want to try out more of their products in the future.
