Erase Wrinkles with ChroNOline and why you should look out for your laminins

I first came across a peptide called ChroNOline back in 2011. Since then, I expected it to show up in more formulations and I believe the reason that it hasn’t is because it is a costly ingredient. I am pleased to report that it is a signature ingredient in the Skin 2 Skin line of anti-aging serums and this is a good enough excuse to put the spotlight on this excellent active to erase wrinkles fast.

ChroNOline is actually the caprooyl tetrapeptide-3peptide.To appreciate the potential antiaging role of caprooyl tetrapeptide-3, you need to know some skin basics as well as the wonderful world of laminin. Skin is composed of the epidermis and the dermis and the two are separated by something called the epidermal basement membrane. This membrane plays an important role in maintaining the skin structure by keeping everything anchored in place. The basement membrane is anti-sag.

Laminins are proteins that are the structural foundations of most cells and organs and are vital for the survival of tissue. But we are mostly interested in laminin 5. This is a glycoprotein and that plays a key role in the epidermal basement membrane. In fact, it is critical in keeping the epidermis adhered to the dermis. Japanese researchers found that by stimulating laminin 5 synthesis, the formation of the basement membrane is given a significant boost.

And this is where caprooyl tetrapeptide-3 comes in. It is derived from a growth factor, namely TGF-ß and stimulates production of laminin 5 (as well as collagen VII). Tetrapeptide-3 is also supposed to be pretty good at beefing up fibronectin (by 60% apparently). Fibronectin funtions in ways that are similar to laminins. However, it also plays a crucial in wound healing and decreased levels are associated with various cancers.  It was established in the early 80s that it is critical to healthy skin.

ChroNOline is a concoction of caprooyl tetrapeptide-3, dextran, glycerin and water. According to the manufacturer of, (there’s never an independent research on these peptides), it increases collagen lll by 34% as well as laminin production by 26% and laminin 5 by 49%. Overall, wrinkles were reduced by 16% in 28 days.

Now that you are inspired to look out for your laminins, you’ll be glad to know that they come in a cool cross-shape as well..
